Spartan Sol’s journey began in 2008 when we met on the campus of Michigan State University with the shared dream of creating something truly game-changing. For years, we sought solutions to everyday problems—until 2019, when we discovered a major issue no one had solved.

We’ve all experienced the discomfort of portable restrooms—stifling heat, unbearable odors, and zero airflow. Why should portable toilets, outhouses, and job site restrooms be any different from indoor bathrooms? That’s when we knew: the world needed an affordable, effective, and eco-friendly ventilation solution.
After 18 months of rigorous testing and 12 design iterations, we perfected the Johnny Hat—a solar-powered ventilation fan built for porta-potties, sheds, outdoor restrooms, and construction site toilets. Our innovation checked all the boxes:

HOW DOES IT WORK?The Johnny Hat uses a solar panel to produce electricity to power the ventilation fan inside the fixture. It automatically turns on when the Sun rises, and shuts off when the sun sets. It has been strategically designed to fit on the existing ventilation system without any modification! By design it draws fresh air in through the vents at the top of the structure, down through the holding tank and out the stack. Everyone that uses the Johnny Hat has told us "you can't smell anything" and "it is noticeably cooler"!

DOES IT REALLY WORK THAT WELL?We wouldn't sell it if it didn't! The residential recommendation for a bathroom fan is roughly 1CFM per square foot; we have doubled that for the standard sized portable restroom! We also designed the entire product around the power source; the solar panel. Because we did this, our solar panel captures much more power so it will even function in circumstances where sunlight isn't optimal for other solar products!

WHAT IS YOUR RETURN POLICY?All items have a 30 day return policy. To get your full purchase amount returned you must have a copy of the receipt, and the package must be un-opened in like new condition.

WARRANTYEvery unit that is shipped out is tested for proper function before being packaged. A 2 year warranty applies to all Spartan Sol products. This warranty explicitly covers manufacture defect or failure only. It does not cover misuse, abuse, vandalism, normal wear and tear, act of God, or any other unreasonable damage. To warranty a product you must send us the product, along with a copy of the receipt.
